2015 Year End

5 Minute Fast Pitch

MUST made it to the finals of Social Venture Partner’s (SVP) prestigious Fast Pitch competition. Rick presented his 5 minute pitch to an audience of 1,000 people. MUST took home three awards, which was the first time that has happened in the history of the contest.

Winner: Audience Choice Award
– The audience voted live.
Winner: Donor Impact Award
– The SVP donors decided this important award.
Winner: 2nd in our division
– We are told it was a very close call but the ten judges put us 2nd.

MUST also received five angel checks from audience members. In total MUST took home $21,000. Just as important is the credibility the awards give as we apply for grants and approach new donors. It feels rewarding to work hard for something and see the fruit of our labor. Plus we get some over-sized checks. How fun is that?

Hard to believe, but it is the end of the year again. Throughout the year we keep our financial needs out of the newsletters so you can just read the great things that are going on with MUST. However, that also means when we do ask at the end of the year we need you to respond. We have two needs this year.
1. Our annual budget has grown to $250,000. The increase pays for the addition of new mentors and youth. Would you please consider donating more and/or introducing us to individuals and companies that would be interested in supporting us financially? Your donations are helping break the cycle of poverty in the lives of our youth.
2. We need a house! One of the biggest financial hurdles our mentors face is the cost of housing. A house will allow them to keep their cost of living down and also provide a bachelor training ground for them to learn how to cook, live clean, live neat and live in community with others. It will also provide a wonderful environment of education and hope living with other mentors pursing their higher education. Would you please consider either buying a home for us or letting us take take care of a home you own?
Seahawks - NewsletterMUST teamed up with Pete Carroll’s ‘A Better Seattle’ and the guys got to meet a bunch of Seahawks.
M.U.S.T. is dedicated to finding promising men in their early to mid twenties in the urban core who grew up in at-risk environments but now want to get their education. We pay them to get their higher education AND to mentor youth who are truly at-risk of dropping out of high school. Most exciting of all… it’s working!
Thank you for partnering with us this year!
You can now make donations directly to MUST!
