2014 Year End – New Name!

new-name
Yes! We have a new name and a new website. After much deliberation on a new name, our board member, Maggie, came up with M.U.S.T. – Mentoring Urban Students and Teens. “Mentoring is a M.U.S.T.!” It is a ‘sticky’ name and travels well in the different circles we run.

Aaron Parr is doing an amazing job as our first paid mentor. Aaron was paired with Israel (Izzy) and Cedric over the summer and will be mentoring them over the next 3-4 years. They meet for breakfast once a week, do fun and stretching outings on the weekends, and progess through our mentoring curriculum. Aaron is half way to his BA and plans to finish a Masters as well. Thank you, Aaron!
M.U.S.T. is dedicated to finding promising men in their early to mid twenties in the urban core who grew up in at-risk environments but now want to get their education. We pay them to get their higher education AND to mentor youth who are truly at-risk of dropping out of high school. Most exciting of all… it’s working! Thank you for partnering with us this year!

Our mentoring program is doing well and we are in the process of expanding. A thriving program means Rick is spending more and more time sustaining, growing, and promoting. In light of this we are looking to free Rick up from doing web work by trying to raise an additional $2,000 per month. Would you please consider raising your support, donating, or introducing us to someone who might be passionate about what we are doing?

we want to be in their lives as they grow older. The mentoring
is not as intense or intentional as the guys but we do have a voice with them.
